UAE’s Gargash Criticizes Iranian Media, Highlights Role of Credibility in Modern Conflicts

SNN – Anwar Gargash has sharply criticized Iranian state media, describing its messaging as “naive propaganda” disconnected from realities on the ground, as tensions continue to rise across the region.

In a statement posted on X, Gargash said Iranian media relies on outdated, slogan-driven narratives that fail to reflect current developments and instead target a limited, partisan audience.

He argued that such messaging lacks credibility, especially in an environment marked by restricted communication, internet disruptions, and limited independent reporting inside Iran.

Gargash emphasized that in modern conflicts, media narratives have become a critical battleground, where credibility plays a decisive role. He noted that without trust and accuracy, messaging loses its influence regardless of how widely it is promoted.

His remarks come amid ongoing regional tensions, with Gulf countries including United Arab Emirates raising concerns over security threats and attacks targeting infrastructure.

Observers say the comments reflect a broader shift in warfare, where information and perception are as important as military actions. Analysts argue that traditional propaganda methods are becoming less effective in an era of instant communication and widespread access to independent information.

Gargash’s criticism also highlights what many see as a growing gap between official narratives and on-the-ground realities, particularly as images and reports from conflict zones challenge state-controlled messaging.

The statement aligns with the UAE’s broader position of combining deterrence with diplomatic engagement, while emphasizing the need to protect sovereignty and maintain regional stability.

More broadly, the situation underscores how the information war has become a central element of modern conflicts, where credibility—not just messaging—determines influence and impact.
