Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre Receives Saudi Ambassador to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Mogadishu, 11 December 2025 — Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, today welcomed the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Ahmed Bin Muhammad Salah Al-Muwalad, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce diplomatic and strategic ties between the two nations.

The meeting focused on deepening Somalia–Saudi Arabia relations, with discussions covering security cooperation, economic partnership, investment opportunities, and social development. The Prime Minister also highlighted the vital role Saudi Arabia continues to play in supporting humanitarian efforts in Somalia, particularly in assisting communities affected by drought.

Prime Minister Hamsa expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s consistent support for the Somali people and government. He emphasized the importance of increasing Saudi investment in Somalia, particularly in key economic and infrastructure sectors that contribute to long-term stability and growth.

Ambassador Al-Muwalad reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening its strategic relationship with Somalia. He conveyed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to scale up development initiatives and further enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.

Senior Somali officials, including the Chairman of the Disaster Management Agency, Mr. Mohamud Macalin Cabdulle; the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Kamal Daahir Guutale; and other government leaders, attended the meeting.
